A new year, a new class and a new school. This year Mr Baker will be teaching 28 Year 4/5 students at Hokowhitu School. Our class will be known as Fab4 and our NEW BLOG can be found at the address below. All you have to do is click on the link to check it out.

The wait is finally over!!!! Max William Baker entered this world at 1.40am on Sunday morning at Palmerston North maternity ward. He weighed 7 pounds 12 and mother and baby are both doing well. Go to the baby blog later on today to see pictures.

Happy New Year everyone, it’s been an awesome year full of fun, excitement and drama!!

In 2008 I bought a new house, started a new job, resigned from my job twice, landed a new job, got married and best of all Trudi and I are expecting our first child.

2009, what does it hold? well who knows but I can guarantee that it will not be dull!! There is no sign of baby boy yet but if he is anything like his dad he will definitely be on time!!

The blog has been great and I thank everyone who has supported it over the year. Mr B loves the blog so much that he now has a Baby Blog and Sports Blog. Who knows where I will take the Blog next year.

Mr B will be teaching Fab4, Year 4/5 next year at Hokowhitu School. Aren’t they lucky! Can’t wait to meet my new class and get stuck in to some new learning. I have been in contact with a class in America and we are going to set up a blogging/skype project between our classes next year. Should be awesome!!

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you have an awesome day and get lots of cool presents. Trudi and I are going to my parents for lunch and Trudi’s parents for tea.

Hey everyone, Room 5 are going to do a Secret Santa activity to end the year. I have sent a notice home so hopefully everyone has received it.

If anyone has a spare Electric fry pan could they please send it along to school. Room 5 are going to make Pikelets in class as a fun measurement activity.

Well Mr Baker has been at it again and created a new website for R5 to use!!! I have started a Wiki.

You may ask what is a Wiki? Well a Wiki is a page or collection of Webpages designed to enable anyone who accesses it to be able to contribute or change it. In plain English it’s a website where R5 can add and change things. For example a Wiki allows anyone with a password to add Photos, Vokis, Pets etc…

Your next question might be ‘How is a Wiki different to a Blog?’ Well with the Blog Mr Baker controls pretty much everything and children and visitors can only add comments. With a Wiki members can add anything they want.

Wiki’s are not new and have been around for years. Classrooms all over the world have been using them to enhance learning and share work. Who knows what the Wiki will turn into? Hopefully a place where children and parents can share and continue learning outside the classroom.

To access our class Wiki all you need to do is click on this link http://room5atwork.pbwiki.com/ or click on the link under Newbury School in the sidebar.

All students have a user name and password which enables them to login and make changes. Anyone without a password can access the Wiki but not make changes.

Isn’t R5 lucky? We now have a Blog, Podcast site and a Wiki. Learning has never been so much fun!!!!!!!!

Yeehaa!!!! Fair Go recognised our Ad and showed part of it on their show last night. That’s awesome team, it’s good to know that they did really like it. Hope everyone is having an awesome holiday and recharging their batteries. I have just got back from Auckland where Trudi and I shopped up a storm (Lots of baby things). Speaking of babies, there is only 103 more days until our baby is due. So exciting!!!!!

I have put up a new Homework project called ‘The Big OE’. If you want to get an early start click on the link above and all will be revealed. I will explain and go over it in class.

Guess what? Since I started the Blog we have had 9,900 hits!!!! Awesome, that means 10,000 hits is not far away!!! Who will be the 10,000th person to visit the Blog!!! Maybe we should have a 10,000 hits Blog Party. Stay tuned more info coming soon!!!!!!

Welcome everyone to Room 5, Newbury School. Isn’t it great to be back at school?

The holidays were great but I’m glad to be back at school. I spent my holidays roaming between home (Palmerston North), Taranaki (My parent’s home), Wellington and Mahia. Drop me a line and tell me what you got up to in the holidays. I would love to read your adventures.
